The Grand Tour of Italy continues, the traveling fashion show organized by Dolce&Gabbana for the launch of their new fashion lines: the protagonists are some of the most fascinating locations in our country, apparently with a strong interest in those that are the places of Italian culture, history and identity. And so, the new destination is the archaeological site of Noralocated in the south of Sardinia. Here’s what we know.

D&G, the parade among the ruins of Nora

First stages of Grand Tour d’Italia were Puglia and the archaeological park of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, two exceptional locations that wonderfully welcomed the Dolce&Gabbana fashion show. This time, the show moves to Sardinia: the choice fell on the archaeological site of Nora, which hosts the ancient ruins of a Phoenician city – later conquered by the Punics and the Romans. We are in the south of the island, in the Cagliari area which in recent weeks is being populated with tourists for the start of the summer season.

“In the heart of Sardiniawhere the ruins of ancient civilizations, from the Nuragic to the Romans, stand sentinel over emerald valleys and sapphire seas, D&G Alta Gioielleria, D&G Alta Moda and D&G Alta Sartoria capture the spirit of the island. The fusion of history and nature in this jewel of the Mediterranean offers a poetic backdrop for the presentation of Dolce&Gabbana’s latest creations” – reads the official social channels of the luxury brand. The program is tight, and consists of a series of fashion shows aimed at presenting the latest innovations in clothes and jewellery.

The features of the new collection are particularly inspired by the tradition and folklore of Sardiniawith great interest in the “handmade”. On July 1st, the fashion show debuts with the “Trame Preziose” high jewellery collection, at the Forte Village Resort in Pula – for the occasion, the Dolce&Gabbana seasonal store is also inaugurated. On July 2nd, it is the turn of the high fashion show, which has as its backdrop the splendid Roman theater of Norawith local musical accompaniment. On July 3rd it is the turn of the haute couture collection, again in the luxurious resort. The following day, July 4th, a closing party to celebrate this extraordinary event.

Nora, a precious archaeological park

The new open-air location of the Dolce&Gabbana fashion show is simply amazing: the archaeological park of Nora is located in the municipality of Pula, a highly touristic area (especially in this season of the year). An ancient Nuragic settlement arose here, where the Phoenician city was later founded, which later passed into the hands of the Punics and the Romans. And if, therefore, the original traces of this village have almost entirely been lost, there are many testimonies from later periodsin which the city experienced its golden age.

Particularly interesting is the temple of Eshmun-Aesculapiusa large sacred complex that houses numerous rooms from different eras: some of the most precious relics of the entire archaeological park have been found here. From the Roman era, however, the ruins of several buildings remain standing, including the forum, the theater (which is the backdrop to the D&G fashion show) and the thermal facilities. At the time, the city of Nora must have been particularly rich, thanks also to trade with the territories overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
