Covid: Pharmacists orders, ‘ready to vaccinate in the next campaign’

Milan, 18 September. (Adnkronos Health) – “Italian pharmacists are ready to make their contribution to the anti-Covid vaccination campaign announced by the Minister of Health, to make this important prevention tool easily accessible to citizens, strongly recommended for those over sixty and frail people, as well as for healthcare workers.” This was stated by Andrea Mandelli, president of the Federation of Italian Pharmacist Orders (FOFI), commenting in a note on the statements of Minister Orazio Schillaci on the imminent availability of the new vaccines against Covid-19 and on the involvement of local pharmacies for their administration.

“The widespread network of over 19 thousand public and private pharmacies and the over 50 thousand community pharmacists authorized to inoculate vaccines are a resource for the National Health Service and an irreplaceable health safeguard for Italians – underlines Mandelli – as demonstrated by the growing demand to be vaccinated in a pharmacy, recorded during the latest vaccination campaigns against Covid and influenza. Proximity to the citizen, in large cities as well as in small towns and in more internal areas, the relationship of trust with the pharmacist and the efficiency of the service, carried out in conditions of complete safety for the patients, are very important factors that can encourage wider and more informed adherence to vaccination”.

“We therefore renew – concludes President Fofi – our full availability to the Minister of Health to participate as vaccinators in the next anti-Covid immunization campaign, with the competence and responsibility that distinguish us and which have earned us the trust of Italians who turn to us every day for answers to their health needs.”
