An unexpected end to the year for Mara Venierwho ends his 2025 in hospital. The presenter of Sunday In she revealed on Instagram that she had been hospitalized, sharing some photos and videos where she said she had undergone a new eye operation. The last year has not been easy at all for the presenter who, even on this occasion, has shown great strength and courage, choosing irony to reveal what happened to her.
Mara Venier in hospital, how is she?
Mara Venier has in fact published a story on her Instagram profile with a simple but significant phrase: “Let’s end the year like this…”. In the images that accompany her words Mara is in a hospital bed with one eye bandaged after an operation. The presenter underwent eye surgery to treat the effects of maculopathy, a pathology that affects the central part of the retina and progressively compromises clear vision.
Already last November 9th, during the episode of Sunday InMara had confessed to not feeling well. “Today is difficult for me. I apologize. Sometimes I can’t see, sorry if I miss beats,” he said.
It’s one procedure that Mara has faced several times in recent months and years. During 2025 it has already undergone other interventions and checks, always documenting the process with transparency and irony on social media.
“I had a sudden hemorrhage in the retina of my right eye – he said some time ago, talking about the maculopathy -. Which within 5 days expanded more and more. While watching TV I realized that I could only see half of the TV, I closed my left eye and I realized that I couldn’t see anything: everything dark, everything black. […] A few days ago I had the third operation, I have two more waiting for me. Now I see something. I’m in good hands, but it was a trauma.”
In the video published, the presenter wears transparent protection over her eye and appears tired, but smiling. Mara wanted to thank the doctor, trusting in a quick recovery and making fun of a less than fortunate end to the year. “Let’s end the year like this. Happy New Year everyone. Let’s hope it really is the end of this year,” he wrote.
Mara Venier’s terrible year
2025 was a particularly challenging year for Mara Venier, marked by trials and moments of great emotional load.
