GSC Game World has released a new teaser video and a message on the new arrivals for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl in 2026, especially the new one expansion of the story scheduled for next year, indicating the possible setting.
The teaser video, visible below, doesn’t show much to be honest, as it is a sequence shot with a fixed shot that goes on for almost seven minutes, but we can still draw some clues about the characteristics of the expansion from this small preview and from the message published by the studio on Steam.
In the video, from the fog we see the profile of a structure progressively emerge in the distance, which seems to refer to the Chernobyl nuclear power plantsuggesting that the new story DLC will be set in this iconic area of the Zone.
A hint about the new setting
“Dear Stalkers, 2025 was a year full of adventures in the Zone for us, full of challenges, discoveries and long nights that somehow turned into something wonderful“, we read in the message published by GSC Game World on Steam.
“We’ve been working hard on the game all year, putting our heart and soul into it improve it every day. And now you can see the results: everything seems much smoother and more reliable, works perfectly on PCs and shines on consoles. When we finally launched the PS5 version in November, your comments filled us with joy”, we also read in the letter, which then goes on to talk about the upcoming news.

“There’s still so much we want to share with you and we can’t wait to dive into 2026 together. The first ever DLC is progressing well and we’re also working on a major update to a latest version of Unreal Engine 5 to make the area even more stable and spectacular”.
So there are technological evolutions coming regarding the STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl engine but also new content and story elementsall things on which the team promises that “More details will arrive very soon”, so we just have to wait to find out more.
The game improved a lot with the arrival of patch 1.7, while further content was introduced with the free update a couple of weeks ago which introduced new quests, characters and environments.
