The data for the first quarter of 2024 (GDP +5.3 percent) surprised many analysts and observers who believe that the Chinese economy has reached its peak and is destined to suffer a sharp slowdown.
The Chinese economy is changing its skin: the “three old” (appliances, clothing, furniture) have been supplanted by the “three new” (electric vehicles, batteries, photovoltaic panels) as the main export products.
However, the trade war and the US technology embargo are complicating Beijing’s recovery.
