The installation ‘Silent book’ curated by Gianluca Quaglia was inaugurated last night at the Hypogeum of Piagge: a work created with books rendered unreadable by the mud that has invaded the homes and lives of the inhabitants of Senigallia. The exhibition event is part of the broader initiative organized by the Pro Loco of Piagge and the parish of Santa Lucia entitled ‘Words in the mud, 6 months after the flood’, which aims to bring citizens’ attention to the dramatic phenomenon flood of September 2022 which affected many localities in the provinces of Pesaro Urbino and Ancona. The inauguration of ‘Silent book’ was preceded, again the other evening, in the church of Santa Lucia, by the appreciated performance of the ‘Gaudium Vocis’ choir from Terre Roveresche, author of an intervention that combined music and poetry and featured water, a symbol of life and rebirth and at the same time destructive power; and from the touching testimonies of Beatrice Galli and Francesca Rossi, operators of Caritas Senigallia who coordinated and brought relief to various municipalities devastated by floods. “Six months later – said Morena Malerba, president of the Pro Loco – we want to go back to talking about a drama that has profoundly marked our territory, so that the mud that has overwhelmed houses and human lives is not added to the mud of time that erase the memory”.
