Corsair Dynamo! The Giants conquer the PalaVerde (89-92)

Corsair Dynamo at PalaVerde! The Giants conquer Treviso and close 2025 with a very valuable success for the Unipol Serie A ranking, first away of the season and third in the last four matches.

Performance of character for coach Mrsic’s team: after a balanced first half, Dinamo runs away in the third quarter thanks to Johnson’s bombs, even reaching +14. Treviso, driven by an overflowing Brianté Weber, manages to mend the break and rekindle the PalaVerde, dreaming of the shot. In the hottest possessions, however, the leadership and coolness of the Bank’s two playmakers emerge: Jacob Pullen and Desure Buie take control of the situation, restoring the inertia to Dinamo and leading them to a fundamental success, which allows them to move away from the hot areas of the table and face the end of the year with confidence.

The McGlynn-Pullen-Johnson trio stands out, all scoring 17 points, while Buie comes close to another double-double with 10 points and 9 assists. On the other hand, the monstrous performance of the former Weber (30 points) and the excellent evening of the young Torresani (20 points) were not enough.

BALANCED START
Dinamo starts with Buie, Johnson, Beliauskas, Thomas and McGlynn. Treviso responds with Weber, Abdur-Rahkman, Olisevicius, Pinkins and Radosevic.

Lively first minutes: Nutribullet tries to raise the pace and, thanks to Radosevic and Weber’s free throws, takes a lead of +5 (13-8). Captain Thomas keeps the Bank in the wake with the bomb from the mid-corner. 60 seconds before the siren, Pullen scores the equalizing basket on the counterattack (18-18).

THE DYNAM GROWS
At the start of the second quarter Pullen makes the pass, but the game remains balanced. An offensive burst from Torresani gives Treviso +3 (23-20). Zanelli makes up for it, but some mistakes allow Treviso to rise to +4 (26-22) and leads to Mrsic’s timeout. The dealer reacts with a 4-point mini break by McGlynn. The match proceeds in a continuous back and forth: Weber scores the +4 bomb, Pullen responds promptly. 4 minutes after the long break, Radosevic scores the basket which gives Nutribullet a new +6 (35-29). Dinamo does not lose heart: Pullen, McGlynn, Beliauskas (two triples) and Johnson produce a 13-2 counterbreak, which is worth the white and blue overtaking (42-37) and allows them to go to halftime with the momentum in hand.

BIANCOBLU SHOW IN THE THIRD QUARTER
At the start of the third period, Abdur-Rahkman tries to reduce the gap, but Beliauskas is very hot from the arc (4 baskets on the first 6 attempts) and gives the Giants +7. Pinkins’ basket and foul generates Thomas’ third personal. Pinkins and Olisevicius build a 6-0 run, Johnson and Thomas respond, putting Dinamo back ahead 54-46. Rossi calls a timeout, but Thomas’ triple brings the Bank up 10 (58-48). Dinamo dominates in rebounding, shares the ball well and finds a devastating offensive end in Johnson: the Texan guard favors an acceleration worth +14. Treviso remains in contact thanks to Weber, always the protagonist, and some mistakes from Dinamo; in the 30th minute the Venetians halved the deficit to 68-61.

TREVISO RETURNS, BUIE EXTINGUISHES THE FIRE
The hosts improve in defense and, with Torresani’s free throws, they reach -5. Dinamo struggled in offensive construction and had to deal with Thomas’ fourth foul. Abdur-Rahkman, with the triple, brings Treviso to -2, but McGlynn responds with a basket and a foul. Torresani, with a difficult jumper, scores the -1 and forces Mrsic to time out. The Croatian coach chooses the double play (Buie and Pullen) and the double pivot (Vincini and McGlynn) and opts for the zone defense. However, Dinamo left 4 free throws on the table, Weber took advantage of it to overtake 5′ from time. Treviso flies on the wings of confidence, while Dinamo loses Beliauskas due to injury and Thomas due to a limit on fouls. Torresani scores the +4, but Dinamo doesn’t give up: Buie equalizes at 80 with a great triple, Radosevic gives his team the lead again, but Pullen promptly responds. On the following possession, Buie scores the huge basket to make it 86-83 with 19 seconds left. After a timeout, Torresani scores 1/2 on free throws; Johnson scores a two-possession advantage, Weber keeps the flame alive, but Abdur-Rahkman commits an unsportsmanlike offense on Pullen, who tries to close the match with the +5 6 seconds from the siren. Torresani still has something to say, but on the other end McGlynn scores the last free throw and gives the victory to Banco di Sardegna.

THE PRESS ROOM
Coach Veljko Mrsic: “It was a very important match for both teams, there was also a bit of nervousness, with too many ups and downs on both sides. In the third quarter we had the feeling of having the game in hand, with many easy baskets in transition, from three and from below. In the last three minutes of the third quarter, however, we lost clarity: too many three-point shots against a team in bonuses. It would have been useful to go to the line more often. The inertia seemed to go towards Treviso, but in the final we had better luck. We’re at matchday 13, our record is 5-8 after a start marked by 5 defeats in a row, but the season is still long. Everything changes quickly, we keep our feet on the ground and continue to work.”
