Basketball: Virtus Bologna and Olimpia Milano victorious in the postponements

The two postponements on Monday evening officially closed the program of the thirteenth and third to last day of the first round of the regular season of the Serie A 2025-2026 men’s basketball. The Monday Night of the LBA also saw the two Italian Euroleague teams on the field, both chasing precious points to try to obtain the best possible position in the Final Eight of the Italian Cup draw (based on the mid-championship ranking).

Clear and never questioned home success for EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, which overwhelmed Vanoli Cremona 91-74 achieving the fourth victory in a row in the tournament and joining the pair formed by Venezia and Tortona in a group that goes from third to fifth place with a balance of 9-4. MVP at the Allianz Cloud was the usual Shavon Shields with 22 points, while among the ranks of the Cremonese team four players scored double figures.

The match was in the balance until the last minute in Trieste, with Virtus Olidata Bologna coming out on top in the final 74-66 thanks above all to Derrick Alston’s decisive four-point play which put the Bianconeri up 6 with 32″ to go. The Vu Nere therefore respond to Brescia and remain at the top of the standings with a record of 11-2, taking another step forward towards the No. 1 seed in the Final Eight of the Italian Cup. Top scorer of the match was a wild Matt Morgan with 19 points, but the good performance of the Italian Saliou Niang should also be highlighted with 12 points (6/7 from the field) and 6 rebounds.

Everything is still open in the sprint for the last passes with a view to the Final 8, with the Trieste team caught in seventh place by Napoli (6-7) and will have to defend themselves in the next two days from a large group of players at 5-8 which also includes Cremona.
