Serena Rossi: “When I left the microphone on the Sistine on a romantic scene: I made a joke and the whole theater laughed”

Tomorrow evening in Piazza Mercato, in Naples with the “Night of the Tammorra”: “Tradition must be defended. In Capri I was unleashed by singing with the “parkingores” at the restaurant ». And then he says: “On the set I agree to get clouded”

Serena Rossi, 40 years old in August, retains her fresh girl from a girl next door but if you need it knows how to turn into the attractive femme fatal: we saw her at cinema with Manetti Bros, more recently for Cristina Comencini in the “Children’s Train” (which has broken down on Netflix) and now it will be the voice of the bad queen in the new Disney Snow White; On TV it was “Mina September”; At the theater he is on tour with “Serenata in Naples” (in Carditello on 17, in Pompeii on 29), in which songs of the Neapolitan tradition reinterprets. Some will take them tomorrow evening to Piazza Mercato, to the “Night of the Tammorra” by Carlo Faiello, the event that celebrates the folk song without neglecting the most innovative trends.

Serena, how was this collaboration born?
“By chance. While I was setting up my show, I was looking for a great space to try and told me about the deconsecrated church entrusted to Carlo Faiello and the Domus Ars. I called him and he offered me enthusiastically. Working there was an experience of great intensity, the place has a crazy acoustics and is very suggestive. And then it was wonderful to get out of the tests and find himself in Santa Chiara, eat in some trattoria … and meet some member of the NCCP to whom I naturally bow. There Serenata was born and Faiello asked me to bring songs to his show. I have chosen some very popular ones, others dreams, others still engaging. I really like to confront myself with an audience other than that of theaters, it will be a “belly” performance ».

She is a multifaceted actress and singer, with an eye to tradition: somehow embodies the new face of Naples …

«This is how it is an important legacy, but I carry on this role lightly. Keeping tradition is a conscious choice alive, my heart breaks to think that a certain type of classical Neapolitan music is left behind. Since I was a child I was a fan of the concerts of great artists like Lina Sastri, Massimo Ranieri. Transmit to young people this baggage fills me with pride. But there are also new extraordinary artists, for example, I think of La Niña: she also winks at tradition ».

Yet today in a city invaded by tourists it is difficult to listen to the Neapolitan classics.
“Of course, it would take a constant offer. The parkingirs are also disappearing. When I find them I sing with them … ».

Really?
«It happened in Capri, I just unbridled. And tomorrow I want to make the square dance. Concerts like this are carnal moments, which are independent of listening on Spotify. And then in the event there will also be the immense Peppe Barra, what more do you want? “

His show “Serenata in Naples”, after the summer stages, will be in the billboard of the next season of Augusteo, who will also host the return of “Scugnizzi”. Nostalgia for his debut at 16 in that musical?

“I will certainly see it. Those of Scugnizzi have been important years, of training, discipline. After I brought my theatrical imprinting on the various sets ».

What implies?

«For example, get punctual, respect certain rhythms. Those who came late to the tests of Scugnizzi were fined … “

Did you happen to you?
«No, but once at Sistine I left my microphone on during a romantic scene … without realizing it I made a joke in the middle of his voice and the whole theater laughed. Then Claudio Martone came to ask us for who was the fault and I immediately self -denounced. He appreciated sincerity. “

She passes from the mild social worker Mina Settembre to the bad of Snow White, from the irony of the Manetti to the drama of Comencini: what is her favorite register?
«I like to alternate. I am curious, eager to change. I am able to wallow in pain or have fun in madness. They are for the extremes, not for half measures, like all Neapolitans ».

Naples is now an international brand, what do you think?

“I am not surprised. The city has always had lights and shadows, now it is under a great light that makes music, cinema, sport shine. I am happy, I am in love with Naples. But it is true that I do not live here, so I only take the positive side, how to attend the flourishing of productions that make everyone work. Instead, the Overurism does not weigh because it does not affect my daily life ».

About the various roles and the various looks: in “Amore and underworld” he wore Afro hair. Were they his?
«No, a wig. I had fun a world. It’s nice to transform yourself, wear beautiful clothes on the red carpet. But out of the scene I’m not a fashionista, I prefer jeans and birkentstock. And on the set I agree to get clogged. In the children’s train they dirty me. We took hours to put the black under the nails ».

The one based on the novel by Viola Ardone is a film that touched her a lot because there is a little of her family inside, isn’t it?

“When my agent told me that they were looking for me for that film I couldn’t believe it. It was precisely the story of my family, a heartbreaking story. My grandmother was one of those children, who spent three months in the North in a Modena family, who wanted to adopt her. And when we were shooting the film I made her meet the child (now elderly) of that family: he had been a brother for her. It was a moment of great emotion: we all cried ».

In “Mina September” he worked with great actors of the Neapolitan school: Paone, Confalone, Laurito: how is your relationship?
«Of great complicity. They are actors who have made tradition great, but they are very simple. Every now and then I send an SMS to Marisa writing: “I love you!”. She immediately replies “I too” ».

She is in love with Naples, then her favorite places value to us …
«Difficult … I would say Santa Chiara and Piazza del Gesù, where love between my parents and therefore our family was born. Then I add the promenade at dawn, when the sky becomes everything violates behind Vesuvius: a beauty that makes you cry, a moment when Naples is only mine. And finally the Sanità district, where I worked ».

In August he will cut the forty finish line: what gift would he want?

«Having to think of a gift puts me anxious … in reality it would be enough for me to be with my family and thank them for support. I already live with amazement what I have, if I see the full theaters I wonder and I am grateful. It would seem too much to me to desire something more ».
