Changing your point of view can give you new experiences. The theme of the XVIII photography competition organized by Fondation Grand Paradis,”Upside down – The world upside down”, invited photography enthusiasts to create images with unexpected points of view in which the protagonist was the Gran Paradiso National Park.
The photo was the winner of the competition “The gash” Of Fabrizio Stefani. In the award-winning image the dippers become the protagonists of a play of light and water, seen through the transparency of a waterfall. This image captures the essence of wildlife, reversing the point of view and connecting the pulls not with the air element but with the primordial water element. The flawless composition and ability to capture the emotion of the moment give this photograph extraordinary narrative power. This is the motivation for the awarding of the first prize presented by the Jury, composed this year of the naturalist photographer and nature guide Enzo Massa Micon, the professional photographer Paolo Rey, the naturalist photographer Giorgio Marcoaldi, the President of Fondation Grand Paradis Corrado Jordan and by the Director of Fondation Grand Paradis Luisa Vuillermoz.
He took second place Massimo Arcaro with the titled photograph “Zorro”: the shot of a fox with which, according to the Jury, he captured “in an effective reversal of perspective the eye of the fox”who “he becomes the undisputed protagonist, catalyzing the attention of the observer, suspended between the visual dimension and the emotion of waiting. The blurred proscenium gives even more strength to the animal’s gaze, shaping a scene with highly evocative tones.”
Third place Ubaldo Franco Mantegazzawho with his shot “The mythological guardian of the Park” brings us “in an arcane and mysterious world guarded by an austere and solemn guardian, whose shape is accentuated by a play of shadows and reflections that outline his profile. The originality of the point of view, obtained with a 90° rotation of the shot, creates a dialogue between the static nature of the form and the flexibility of the imagination”.
The winners’ awards ceremony will be held in Cogne on the evening of July 27 on the occasion of the Awards Ceremony of the 27th Gran Paradiso Film Festival.
