It’s a “marathon” in the name of two of the most fascinating ancient civilizations, arriving on Tuesday 19 September on Sky Arte. The three episodes of the Pompeii & Tutankhamun – Hunting for mysteries series, proposed in succession, shed light on some exciting enigmas linked to the famous pharaoh of ancient Egypt and the city devastated by the eruption of Vesuvius. The evening opens at 9pm :15, with The Secrets of Tutankhamun. Professor Bettany Hughes and her team of experts – protagonists of the entire series – through their forensic investigations discover dark events of intrigue that occurred under the reign of Tutankhamun, including the murder of her mother. In doing so they arrive at answers that have eluded Egyptologists for decades. In Vesuvius: before the disaster, broadcast at 10.05 pm, Professor Bettany Hughes reconstructs the identity and fate of five victims of the devastating eruption which occurred in 79 AD. The story continues at 11pm with Vesuvius: the eruption, which examines the phases that preceded and followed one of the worst natural disasters in the history of humanity.
