Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will get a significant technical update on June 30, aimed at resolving several performance and compatibility issues on PC. Among other things, the update will support modern image upscaling technologies, DLSS 4 and FSR 4, and compatibility for multi-frame generation on RTX 50 series graphics cards. The game will have separate upscaling and frame generation settings, allowing players to configure them independently, so, for example, users with NVIDIA GPUs can combine DLSS for image upscaling with FSR for frame generation, offering more flexibility in performance tuning
The team states they have also optimized how video memory is used during texture streaming, which will help reduce overall VRAM consumption. Additionally, the update fixes a bug that caused the Distant Shadow Quality setting to display inaccurate VRAM usage, and another issue where the estimated VRAM usage in the display and graphics settings was significantly lower than the actual usage.
The game will now show a warning at startup if the player’s graphics drivers are outdated, the operating system is unsupported, or compatibility mode is turned on.
Monster Hunter Wilds on PC suffered from a wave of negative feedback. Right now, the game holds only 12% positive recent reviews on Steam (last 30 days). Players are angry about low performance, stuttering, and crashes among other things.
