Yellow alert for bad weather in Rome and Lazio: rain in the city, snow on the border with Abruzzo
Rome and Lazio are preparing for a weekend full of bad weather, with a yellow alert issued by the Region. Starting from Saturday 11 January 2025, an intense wave of rain and a sharp drop in temperatures is expected. The precipitation, which will extend for 24-36 hours, will mainly affect the southern sectors of Lazio, with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms.
According to the experts of ILMeteo.itthe climate will change radically with the arrival of a cold pulse which, crossing the Alps, will enter Lazio through the Rhone Gate and the Bora Gate. The interaction between the cold and warmer air will give rise to intense rainfall, while on Sunday 12 January there will be a temperature drop of as much as 10 degrees in the central-southern regions. The snowfall, although light, could affect the border areas with Abruzzo and Molise, at low hill levels.
Experts warn that this abrupt climate change will bring with it not only cold and rain, but also a significant risk of inconveniences related to traffic, especially in hilly and mountainous areas. The local authorities, in fact, are constantly monitoring the situation, preparing interventions to guarantee the safety of citizens and vehicles.
The most critical day is expected to be Sunday, when the bad weather will reach its peak with heavy rain, plummeting temperatures and local snowfall. While waiting for the bad weather to ease, it is advisable to pay attention to the weather reports and adopt the precautionary measures indicated by the Civil Protection.
