Armed attack on the villa of Maria Sole Agnelli, the hostage housekeeper. A safe was taken away

The “support” car parked not far from the villa where they loaded the safe and then escaped along the Via Aurelia. «A robbery studied down to the smallest detail» say the carabinieri who are investigating the robbery in Torrimpietra, in the northern quadrant of Fiumicino. Estate and residence on the Roman coast of Maria Sole Agnelli99 years old, sister of the lawyer Gianni Agnelli and aunt of the president of Stellantis John Elkann. The elderly woman, daughter of Edoardo Agnelli and Virginia Bourbon del Monte, widowed two years after the death of her second husband, Count Pio Teodorani Fabbri, was not woken up and did not notice anything. The bandits, after tying up the security guard and the housekeeper, found the safe which they broke down without difficulty. Inside there is money and valuables worth over 200 thousand euros. Although investigators are still quantifying the stolen goods. The images from the estate’s video surveillance cameras which captured the assault sequence have been seized. And those positioned along the Aurelia, the commando’s escape route.

HOSTAGE

The alarm on the farm in via del Casale di Sant’Angelo, approximately 320 hectares of land of which 120 of tall forest in the countryside of the Roman coast, was triggered shortly after midnight on Wednesday. The bandits armed with guns, at least four people with covered faces and a strong Eastern European accent, immobilized the security guard who was in the garden. They then entered the first floor of the luxurious residence heading towards the housekeeper’s room. When the woman was also immobilized, they found the safe which was on the first floor of the estate.

Without difficulty they took it apart and loaded it into the car used for the escape. Then they took the Via Aurelia where they disappeared. It was the security guard who called for help once he managed to free himself. The carabinieri from the Ostia investigative unit and the Civitavecchia company intervened on site and carried out investigations throughout the day.

According to initial investigations, the bandits would have entered from the land around the villa which extends over 300 hectares. Before going into action they would therefore have studied itineraries and routes between fields and thick bush. Again: the investigators’ hypothesis is that the robbers used at least two cars to carry out the robbery. The first to get closer to the estate, without being discovered. The other, the one used to load the safe and then to run away, as a “support” and which would instead have been approached at a later time.

This is why the Carabinieri’s surveys were carried out not only inside the estate but also in the surrounding countryside, along the access paths to the estate.

THE INFORMANT

A well-studied shot therefore and not only in terms of dynamics. The military’s suspicion is that someone close to the family or collaborators provided information and details that were crucial to carrying out the coup. A mole who would also have given information on the safe which in fact was demolished without any difficulty.

The hunt for the bandits is therefore open and the next few hours will be crucial in tracing the identity of the fugitives.
